Micro-Mosaic Fine Jewellery

I create fine jewellery using the Italian filato technique. This proceeds by pulling Venetian glass (smalti or madretinte) under a gas flame into long, thin threads. These rods, whose colour and shape can be carefully engineered, become the tesserae (individual tiles) for the micro-mosaics.

I use silver or gold as a base for necklaces, rings, and earrings. I use Roman stucco as my binding material, I make this according to the ancient recipe.

Owing to the method, each piece of jewellery is completely unique, and can be made to custom order.
