Wall Mosaics
Wall mosaics make brilliant large-scale, eye-catching pieces both on the walls of a family home but also in public spaces. Like a mosaicist’s version of poster art, wall mosaics can be used to tell stories and communicate ideas in a popular fashion, and the possibilities for subject choice and design are almost endless.
Wall mosaics can be made using glass or ceramic tiles, which are relatively low-cost materials compared to other substances such as smalti. Such low-cost materials are particularly suitable for making large mosaics in public spaces, and it is often possible to involve the community – schoolchildren, workers, local residents – in the production process. The mosaics, which require a genuine team effort to produce, are typically completed in multiple sections before installation on site.
